LogMeIn.. please?

So I am looking for a VPN solution to remotely access and control my dad's computer (to help out with all the computer stuff) and I came across this one. I'd love to have a super-secure one that was just built from the ground up using free tools (Super-Geek!), but I doubt my dad would be able to install it himself on the host computer. We'll see how it goes :)
